Bak kut teh, also known as pork rib soup, is a popular Chinese dish in Singapore. It consists of pork ribs stewed with a mixture of fragrant herbs and spices such as garlic, cloves, cinnamon, star anise, fennel seeds and coriander. In reference to the main ingredient, bak kut teh (in Hokkien) translate literally to “meat bone tea”. Bak kut teh is believed to have originated from the Fujian province of China. The introduction of the dish to Singapore and Malaysia is attributed to Hokkien immigrants who moved to this region in the 19th century. The dish is said to have been popular with the Chinese coolies as a hearty breakfast before embarking on their backbreaking tasks of the day.
When it comes to Bak Kut Teh (BKT) in Kampar, the best recommendation has to Ming Chu, Ming Chu is located at the Kuala Dipang, quite a fair bit away from the Kampar town. It is about a 15 drive from Kampar town itself, located near a T-junction on Jalan Kuala Dipang.
After we taste the bah kut teh, our group member, Tan Siow Way looks satisfied and said excitingly, “The soup is the essences! After a long period of cooking, taste of the herbals and meats are become neutral and sweetness”. Then, we looked around to ask the feedback from other customers. One of the customers told us that his favorite food is bah kut teh and firmly said that the bah kut teh there is definitely special and different from others, even compare to the Klang’s famous one. Besides, another customer, Ivy Looi gave a recommendation “public must have a try! The best bah kut teh in town!”

Just what you will be expecting at all the other bak kut teh restaurant in Perak; a claypot version of BKT with ample quantity of complimentary sides of tau fu pok and some button mushrooms.

Lightly blanced vegetables; dizzled with some oyster oil sauce and shallot oil

our BKT, rice and chili padi

The reason we like to go there is that the owner is very generous with the soup as he will make sure that each clay pot he served will not be out of soup. We ordered 2 claypot of BKT , a plate of vegetable, a plate of You Tiao, and four big bowls of white rice. Everything just cost us less than RM60.
